Boosted a 125A grid connection with a 422 kWh battery

A contractor is currently working on a project for the Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk. They are building a new cold storage facility with office units in Rotterdam, totalling around 35,000 m³. Quite a substantial job.
The 125A power connection on site is insufficient for all the construction machinery, the site office, the cold storage, and the office units. The contractor reached out to their partner, rental company United Rentals, for help. Together with Greener, they found a fitting solution.
A safe and reliable power supply
Greener provided a 422 kWh battery, which is connected to the 125A grid connection, along with an additional backup generator. The battery is linked to a distribution box that distributes the energy to the cold storage and office units.
While the battery alone is easily sufficient to meet the energy demand, the client opted to use a diesel generator as a backup. When the battery drops below 20%, our Energy Management System (EMS) signals the generator to start automatically charging the battery. This way, even in an emergency, there is never a sudden halt in the power supply.
A useful advantage of our EMS: we have 24/7 insight into the exact energy consumption and constantly monitor all our batteries as well as all connected equipment. If there’s an issue with the generator, solar array, or wind turbine, we detect it well in advance. This allows us to resolve issues before they occur. While the generator or other energy source is being fixed, the remaining power in the battery will keep the project running uninterrupted. This ensures you can always count on a stable power supply.
