Organisers are increasingly opting for sustainable transport at their events. From transporting goods and materials to chauffeuring staff and guests around. Renting the EVs themselves isn’t very difficult. However, setting up the charging infrastructure to provide them with clean energy every day is often still a challenge. Fortunately, Greener is the Spielberg of energy solutions.
The Cannes Film Festival is an annual highlight where the biggest names in the film industry come together. At this major event in the global spotlight, sustainability is playing an increasingly important role. Which is why the organisation chose to chauffeur celebrities from point A to point B in electric cars from BMW. It was up to Greener to direct the power solution.
Five 50kW fast chargers on three batteries
Mobile Energy Rental Service was responsible for the charging station in Cannes. The 60 EV chargers there all had to be supplied with sufficient power, with only a small grid connection available. Greener paired three 422 kWh batteries together, letting them function as one large energy buffer. The grid connection had a limit that could not be exceeded. Through our smart software, we ensured our batteries could charge without exceeding the limit. When the demand exceeded what the grid connection could provide the batteries provided extra power to the chargers. Whenever the grid connection had extra power, the batteries charged themselves up.
During the day, the electric BMWs drove all around Cannes, and in the evening they connected to one of the 60 chargers at the charging station. This ensured they were fully charged every morning. And the organisation never had to worry about a film star being stranded or arriving late.
