Temporary shelter in municipalities
All Dutch municipalities will soon have to provide more temporary housing for asylum seekers. Often on quite short notice and with a working power supply. Quite the challenge. Luckily, the municipality of Rotterdam has some experience with this.
The municipality of Rotterdam has been committed to providing shelter for asylum seekers for years. They offer temporary living spaces in renovated office buildings or make us of so-called flex homes. But not all municipalities have the means or space to do this. Even Rotterdam sometimes falls short.
That’s why Rotterdam focuses on asylum ships: ships that come ashore and serve as temporary living spaces. But how do you provide these temporary homes with energy without a grid connection?
Silent, sustainable energy. Everywhere.
Greener’s batteries provide a sustainable, quiet, and fast solution. Asylum ship Arkona was in need of a quick energy supply. The municipality made a request and Greener was on-site with a tailor-made power solution the very next day.
We connected two Greener batteries to a generator. The generator only turns on when the batteries need to recharge and shuts off when they’re full. The batteries provide power to the entire ship.
The Energy Management System is also equipped with a night mode. With this, the batteries calculate how much energy they need to get through the night and charge themselves sufficiently in advance. This way, the generator never needs to run at night, saving a lot of noise. Which the nearby residents surely appreciate.
Greener is happy to assist municipalities in facilitating temporary asylum shelter. The advantages of Greener:
- We always make optimal use of available energy for the most sustainable solution.
- Our batteries provide a quiet and no-nuisance solution
