Together with Voet Energy Solutions and Alfen, Greener introduced the first synchronous grid takeover with a battery and executed this solution for the grid operator, Liander.
Problem: maintenance grid causes nuisance in residential area
In order to future proof the energy grid, Liander is constantly carrying out maintenance. And during maintenance, diesel generators provide back-up power. With the increasing demand for quiet and clean energy solutions batteries are an effective alternative. On top of this, batteries are able to store electricity as it is transferred back into the grid, when many solar installations are present in a neighborhood. This making good use of energy that would otherwise have been wasted.
Solution: switch to battery power during night time
Greener worked closely together with Liander, Alfen and Voet Energy Solutions to test the proposition of a battery executing a grid synchronous takeover. Eventually the pilot was carried out in a residential area close to Amsterdam. The battery was used for peak shaving, forming a buffer between energy production by a diesel generator and power consumption from families depending on stable energy delivery. During the nights the generator could be shut down because of the reduced load, which was provided by
