A new supermarket branch without sufficient energy
A retailer chain opened their new branch in Overvecht in Utrecht. With over 1,500 square meters in size, this new branch offers a big assortment of products to their customers. However, when building the supermarket, there was no grid connection available to get the supermarket running. In order to open according to the planning, a new solution for the energy supply had to be found. With this challenge, the retailer came to Greener after finding out about the possibility of mobile batteries.
Hybrid set-up with a Greener battery
According to the advice of Greener the company decided to try out the solution including a battery and a diesel generator. Therefore, Greener Power Solutions deployed a battery on location at Overvecht. Here, the battery was connected to the diesel generator and ensured that the generator only needed to be turned on when it was necessary to charge the battery. In the example of the supermarket, the load is the highest during the early morning hours when the supermarket employees bake fresh bread for the customers. The addition of the battery has ensured that the supermarket could open on time without having to compromise on the supermarket activities like baking bread or the number of cooled units available. The emissions and noise were kept to a minimum and after using the battery for three weeks a new grid connection became available, so the battery was picked up again. During the three weeks, the battery ensured that there was a quiet energy supply available and that there was as little nuisance as possible for the surrounding residents.
