Small grid connection and several electrical machines
The construction project for the Innovatiestrook Kloosters on the highway A58 aims to build a test location for different innovations in the infrastructure sector. This project was commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, and is being executed by Gebr. Van Kessel. The construction of the Innovatiestrook is a zero emission building site based on the Tank-to-Wheel principle. To achieve this standard, traditionally diesel-fueled machines are being replaced by electrical machines. However, the small grid connection available at the construction site with an available power of 3×63 ampere is not enough to charge all the electrical equipment at the same time. To learn more about the other aspects of what makes this construction site a zero emission building site, read more on these project websites: https://www.samenco2wegwerken.nu and http://www.innova58.nl/ .
Zero emission with battery power
Greener Power Solutions deployed a battery on location to enable the biggest electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously – whether during the day or at night. The battery works as a peak shaver, so the full potential of the grid connection can be used without overloading. This approach prevents the necessity for diesel fuel and contributes to a zero emission construction site. Due to the aims of Rijkswaterstaat to work fully circular and energy-neutral in 2030, along with the project goals of zero-emission, the Greener battery together with the electrical machines have proven to be the perfect solution.
